Horse and Carriage Rides

No carriage rides at present due to the welfare of the horses
but please contact us if you have a carriage driving query.

On sunny days and fine summer evenings and, in fact, all year round at any time, we offer carriage driving trips along quiet rural roads near the confluence of the borders of counties Carlow, Wicklow and Wexford with fantastic views out over the heart of the Irish countryside.

Forget about the hustle and bustle of city life and take a gentle, leisurely carriage drive on quiet country roads – admire the local flora and fauna, maybe a buzzard perched on a pole, or a fox slinking across a field.  Watch baby lambs frollicking in springtime or the ubiquituous horse or donkey quietly grazing.  And, unlike whizzing by in a car, you have time to sit back and relax to the sound of the clip clop of hooves and appreciate nature at its best.

Fantastic Views
As you saunter through the gentle foothills of the Wicklow mountains, you can admire fantastic views south out over lush green pastures towards Mount Leinster, the highest peak in the Blackstairs mountains.

Duration
A short carriage ride for about half an hour is generally ample time for small children.

The more adventurous will appreciate a longer trip of an hour’s duration – which could include a visit to a local pub if wished ( Egan’s Pub – a recent pub winner of a “hearth session” competition for its cosiness and fine musicians).

We can, however, provide trips tailored to your needs – wedding photographic shoots, Cupid’s Carriage for Valentne’s Day – or for marriage proposals at any time,  First Communion trips, birthday parties, debs. celebrations, themed rides such as Jingle Bell Rides at Christmas and the Skeleton Express at Hallowe’en, St. Patrick’s day – always bearing in mind the welfare of the horse(s) and the weather.  These trips must be pre-booked.

What to Wear
Warm clothing and flat shoes (trainers or walking shoes/boots) are essential. As carriage driving is an elegant traditional sport, you might want to look the part and wear a hat and gloves (any well fitting hat, bearing in mind the wind, or a riding hat or cycling hat for safety.

And like any outdoor sport in Ireland, you could bring along waterproof clothing. However, if the weather is inclement we reserve the right to cancel, adjourn or amend any trip or tour in the interests of safety.
