Our beautiful royal blue traditional “canoe” landau is upholstered in luxurious blue velour which will set off any bride’s colours to perfection. It can seat 4 people comfortably, so there is ample room for any bride’s dress.
This carriage is particularly suited to Irish weather – at a moment’s notice the hood can be fully open, fully closed, half open or half closed (depending on your Irish point of view!).
You will be following in the footsteps (or is it hoofprints!) of history, as this particular carriage was frequently used by a previous President of Ireland, Mary Robinson, for her public engagements, such as arriving at the RDS for the Dublin Horse Show (see photo in our gallery). And is the same style of carriage as was used by many royalty for their weddings.
This is a genuine vintage carriage which was manufactured pre the disk brake age, so we have to be careful on hills, but yet it gives a far superior and more smooth ride than most modern reproductions. They don’t make carriages like this any more.
Our traditional style wagonette is a modern reproduction and can accommodate six people. There is no cover on this carriage but it is perfect for sunny when the bride will want to be seen. Several brides have booked this carriage for a one hour trip and used it as a photo shoot – now that’s a great idea.
Our beautiful leather and brass harness, with traditional collar and hames, was handmade in London, and requires hours of cleaning, but the time is well worth the effort to see the result – it complements both the horses and carriage perfectly and looks stunning against the royal blue of the carriage – your photos will look gorgeous – complemented by a beautiful bride, of course.
Both horses are oblivious to traffic and other noises and will patiently stand at ease outside a church, hotel or house awaiting the bride and groom. You will need to be careful – your guests may take more photos of the horses than the wedding party!
